Micah Netherlands is part of the Micah Global movement, an international network of Christians working across the relief, development, and advocacy sectors towards a vision of a world free from poverty, injustice, and conflict. The Netherlands expression of the network began in 2004 to engage Christians “to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with their God.” (Micah 6:8).

Micah Netherlands is engaging with over 2500 churches across the country, supporting them to hold a Micah Sunday service once a year. The service encourages churches to seek climate justice in their congregations, communities, and beyond, with a Micah Course resource also available for Christians who want to go deeper.

“We held a Micah Sunday about Noah’s story and the environment a few years ago, and it was really beautiful to see how it connected the dots in people’s minds about their faith and looking after the planet, encouraging them to do something in response.” Harmen Niemeijer, Micah Netherlands

Tear Netherlands hosts the Renew Our World campaign in the Netherlands, having joined the movement in 2019. They work with Micah Netherlands and the Green Church Initiative, Holland (GroeneKerkenactie) to encourage churches across the country to become more sustainable and speak up and pray for action on climate change, helping to share the campaigns and messages of Renew Our World to The Netherlands.

Micah Netherlands hopes to continue to raise awareness about the climate crisis across the Dutch church, sharing the message of its Micah manifesto with Christians, while also bringing in their theological background and expertise to the wider climate advocacy movement across the country.
